This year I pledged to do something not only for the show but something that the audience can relate to and get behind. So every Friday is known as #BlueFriday. #BlueFriday is where we celebrate a NJ police officer who has gone above and beyond the call of duty to help others.

This week's honoree is a Milltown police officer who risked his own life to save a black lab who had fallen though the ice.

Sgt. Brian Knelle rescued the black lab named Vihar, from Mill Pond along with Milltown's public works manager Jasionowski from the fast-moving icy waters with the help of a homemade flotation device made out of an empty laundry detergent container and some rope, according to the East Brunswick Patch. While Jasionowski grabbed Vihar by his collar, Knelle hauled them both in. After being warmed up, Vihar is now doing fine.

A big thank you for saving the dog's life to this week's #BlueFriday honoree, Sgt. Brian Knelle!
