Bear Sighting Puts Atco School On Lockdown

An elementary school in Atco is on lockdown after a bear was sighted nearby.

Concern over the "unpredictability of the bear" prompted the lockdown at the Thomas Richards Elementary School according to WPVI.

Police say there were numerous sighting of a bear on Ellwood, Richards and Linden Avenues in Atco on Wednesday morning. After police arrived, the bear went into the wood off Jackson Road near the Atco Raceway.

There have been many bear sightings around New Jersey in the past few weeks including Lakewood and Princeton.
