Slowly but surely, power is being restored to New Jersey residents. We have been taking calls all week long from New Jerseyans who have been in the dark for days.

According to David Matthau,

Ralph Izzo, the CEO of Public Service Electric & Gas, the state’s largest utility, says “we now think we have about 780,000 customers left to restore – that means we’ve already restored 900,000 customers -recall last year when we had this kind of conversation, it was hurricane Irene- and that was the largest storm in our history, and that was 800,000 customers out- so in the past 2 days we’ve restored the equivalent of hurricane Irene, and we have another hurricane Irene to go.”

He says restoration efforts may take another 7 to 10 days.

A spokesman for Jersey Central Power & Light says 830 thousand people in their service area still don’t have power, but most folks should have their electricity back by next Wednesday.

Atlantic City Electric reports 77,000 homes and businesses still don’t have power, and Orange & Rockland Electric says 56,000 of their customers in Jersey are still without service.

What is your situation like? Tell us where you are and whether you have had power restored by taking our poll and sharing your thoughts in the comment section below.
