The Philadelphia Inquirer reports  about 200 employees will be laid off. Amoroso's says the layoffs will begin Oct. 6, with the bakery's closure slated for no later than Dec. 4.

Union officials say workers knew the closure was imminent with the company moving to a larger facility.

The new bakery is a joint venture with Ginsburg Bakery Inc., which announced in April that it was closing its Atlantic City operation and laying off 159 workers.

Amoroso's has told employees they are welcome to apply for jobs in Bellmawr.

President Leonard Amoroso Jr. was unavailable for comment.
