A 30-second phone charger is in the works
If your phone has become part of your anatomy, this could be a life changer.
There's a new company based in Israel called StoreDot. StoreDot is in the process of developing a technology called quantum dot that would completely charge your phone in 30 seconds. Yes, I said seconds, not minutes.
So here's the breakthrough that the scientists are working on:
Quantum dot is nano technology which means it can synthesize artificial molecules. Plain and simple, it's a device that takes the place of a standard smartphone battery.
The nanodots are expected to revolutionize the battery process because they allow a highly rapid absorption of power.
StoreDot says this new generation of battery can soak up a much higher charge more quickly like a dense sponge.
Right now there aren't too many electric cars on the road. This new battery could change that. StoreDot claims it would take only a few minutes to charge an electric vehicle.
When and how much?
Right now the company has a prototype. The problem is that it's a bit too bulky for most phones. They expect to have a usable device for sale in late 2016 or early 2017.
At the onset, new phones with the super battery are expected to cost between $100 and $150 more than current models.
I'd like to tell you more about it, but my phone is running out of "juice."
