The 32nd annual John Basilone Memorial Parade will take place this coming weekend, Sunday September 22nd in Raritan Borough.

Sgt. John Basilone (Uncle Vinny's Clam Bar)

Marine Gunnery Sergeant John Basilone was the recipient of the Congressional Medal of Honor for gallant action during the Battle of Guadalcanal in 1942 and the Navy Cross for heroism in the 1945 Battle of Iwo Jima where he was eventually killed. Basilone's stint in the army ended in 1937 and then joined the Marines in 1940. Basilone was inducted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame in 2011.
