World Trade Center Memorial Marred with Allah Graffiti – Hate Crime or Prank [POLL]

It’s inconceivable as to why a group of junior high school students would throw litter into the reflecting pool at the World Trade Center earlier in the week.

You may want to chalk it up to them being “jerky” kids thinking they’re cute.

But how about using another philosophy here?

According to this report:

The NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating after the words “Allah Wakbar” were found written on a granite seat at the Sept. 11 memorial on Tuesday, law enforcement sources tell NBC 4 New York.

A private custodian cleaning the area found the graffiti, written in pink and black marker, on a seat in the plaza area between the north and south pools around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday.

After cops were called, the words were removed by a power washer, sources said. The rest of the memorial was inspected, but no other graffiti was found.

It’s very tough to swallow in light of the 2,800 or so people who died there that day.

If it’s a prank, to say that’s it’s in poor taste doesn’t even begin to cover it.

But do you feel that it goes so far as to constitute a hate crime?

Please, don’t hold back!
