The FDNY says the workers were taken to Bellevue Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The explosion occurred around 10:30 a.m. Friday as they moved an old gas tank from a former gas station.

Two buildings were evacuated as a precaution around the area of West 14th Street and 10th Avenue.

"A huge BOOM and firetrucks near Chelsea Market, " wrote Stephanie Wiseman on Twitter.

Some nearby buildings, such as 450 W. 15th St., were evacuated after the blast according to WNBC TV

“The whole building at Milk Studios shook," Cory Lonas, who works at 450 W. 15th St, told WNBC TV via Twitter. "Everyone evacuated after the smell of burned plastic filled the building.”
