The National Association for Business Economics survey finds a lingering hiring drag, something Phil Kirschner of the New Jersey Business and Industry Association says he does not see around our state.

"We feel that sales, revenue, the purchasing that businesses are doing for their own -- all that, profits -- also translate into more hiring," Kirschner said.

He says the Association sees an increase in hiring around 9 percent in New Jersey.

Everyone seems to agree on an estimated 3 percent growth this year. Kirschner says whether you call that the new normal or regardless of how you describe it, 3 percent growth is a good forecast for 2014.

Most of the respondents to the survey from the National Association for Business Economics do not expect the new federal health care law, or the Federal Reserve's reduction in quantitative easing to stimulate the economy, to have a big impact on business this year.
