WILMINGTON, Del — A van belonging to a group that sells candy with marijuana caught fire on the Delaware Memorial Bridge, destroying thousands of dollars worth of merchandise on Sunday night.

NBC Philadelphia reported the van was carrying members of Weed World Candies, an organization that advocates the legalization of marijuana and was headed to Philadelphia as part of a tour. The group's owner, Dr. Dro, said that $50,000 worth of product was lost in the blaze according to the report.

Photos and video posted to social media show the fire sending thick black plumes of smoke into the air above northbound lanes around dusk that caused big delays heading into New Jersey.

According to the Delaware River and Bay Authority, which runs the bridge, four fire companies responded to the fire.
