NEWTON — A water main break has put a crimp in Thanksgiving dinner preparations in North Jersey.

Andover police said a break in a 16-inch water main Thursday morning on Sparta Avenue in front of Quick Chek is affecting the Drake Manor area of the Sussex County community.

Officials in Newtown also have asked residents to conserve water.

Newton Water Department and DPW crews are working to make repairs and are shutting off water in strategic locations, according to police, who said service could be back to normal by noon.

Newton Township on their website said residents could experience low or no water pressure and said water should be boiled.

Police said that non-drinking water is available at the firehouse on Mill Street and on Lawnwood Avenue. Drinking water is available at the Andover Borough Firehouse on Route 206.
