If you like America’s pastime and you have some used prescription drugs lying around the house, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office has a deal for you. Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph Coronato says his office has joined with DART (Developing Alcohol Responsibly Together) and the Ocean County Health Department to host a prescription drug drop off event tomorrow night at Blue Claws Stadium.

You’re invited to catch a game and clean out your medicine cabinet of potentially dangerous prescription drugs at the same time. There will be two tables, one at each entrance of the Blue Claws Stadium, and program volunteers will start accepting unwanted prescriptions before the game starts.

According to a 2010 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, more Americans abuse prescription drugs than the number of those using cocaine, hallucinogens, and heroin combined. Other studies suggest that a majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends, including from the home medicine cabinet.
