Two Men Gunned Down on Newark Street

Authorities are trying to determine what led to the fatal shootings of two men on a Newark street.

Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn Murray says 34-year-old Shaquan Moss and 32-year-old Franky Moore, both of Newark, were shot around 12:20 a.m. Wednesday in the 100 block of Mercer Street. Bothe were pronounced dead a short time later.

Further details on the shooting, including how many assailants may have been involved or what type of weapon was used, have not been disclosed.

No arrests have been made.

The killings mark Newark's 29th and 30th homicides of 2013.
