A flatbed truck hit a power transformer after flipping over onto the tracks on Route 27 in Iselin just before 2 p.m. Wednesday afternoon not far from the Metropark station. Service out of New York was suspended for about 45 minutes.

NBC 4 New York says there were no injuries.

Amtrak spokesman Craig Schultz says that only three of four tracks through the area are usable, meaning reduced speeds and signal issues.

The Northeast Corridor was operating with 60 minute delays while the North Jersey Coast Line had 15 minute delays going into afternoon drive. Tickets are being cross-honored with buses.

It's the third and fourth suspensions of service today for NJ Transit. Service was suspended in both directions on the Pascack Valley Line for nearly two hours Wednesday morning because a power line caught fire near the River Edge station. A trespasser was fatally struck near the Dover station on the Morris-Essex line.
