1966 - 24 local Jersey bands played a ‘battle of the bands’ gig in Matawan Keyport Roller Drome in New Jersey.  Third place went to The Castiles (with Bruce Springsteen on vocals), and they would go on to perform at the Roller Drome the following week with the other winners as part of a major concert headlined by The Crystals.

1979 - Keith Richards of The rolling Stones performs a concert at the Canadian National Institute for the Blin. The show is part of his punishment for a 1977 drug bust.

1989 - Madonna started a three week run at No.1 on the US singles chart with 'Like A Prayer', the singers seventh US No.1, also a No.1 in the UK.

2008 -  Die hard Elvis Presley fans learn that Elvis had spent time in London on a secret tour given by his friend Tommy Steele.  Steele took him around London in 1958 showing him landmarks such as the Houses of Parliament.  It wasn't until 2008 that this information was relieved as it had originally been believed that Elvis had never visited the UK except for a stop over flight.
