A group of teens from Ocean Township are being charged with breaking and entering into a yeshiva and defecating on a bunch of desks, according to authorities.

Perhaps I’m making more out of this than need be, but when it happens in a religious school – particularly a yeshiva, the first thought that comes to mind is “hate crime.”

Yet there’s no direct evidence of that. This has the look of merely a crime of opportunity.
Kids thinking how much “fun” it would be to break into a yeshiva and cause havoc.

But with the series of anti-Semitic acts that have taken place in the state of late, one can’t rule out the possibility that the motivation was our of hatred.

What it all amounts to is that these teens will be charged with is burglary and criminal mischief.

Since we can’t get into the minds of the kids themselves, and since there was no anti-Semitic graffiti scrawled on the walls or anything like that, one can only assume the motivation was “criminal mischief” on their parts.

But an appropriate punishment in my mind would be to clean the toilets for a day.

After all, wouldn’t that have been the proper place to deposit their “wares?”

Do you feel the incident involving 4 youths breaking into a yeshiva and defecating on desks was a prank or hate crime?
