It seems as though storms are getting worse every year in New Jersey and residents and business have been left without power for a week and more in recent years. A Garden State lawmaker has introduced a measure to protect businesses that are forced to shut down during power outages.
CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- Along much of the East Coast, hotel owners, tourism officials and would-be vacationers kept a watchful eye on forecasts Wednesday as Tropical Storm Arthur churned off Florida, threatening Fourth of July plans for thousands of people.
The remnants of a violent storm that claimed 13 lives in Oklahoma sent punishing winds and torrential downpours to northern New England and a tornado to South Carolina. And there could be more coming, though meteorologists say the worst is over.
