One of Gov. Chris Christie's State three Supreme Court nominees will get a confirmation hearing before the State Senate Judiciary Committee on Oct. 17.
There’s good news today for one of Gov. Chris Christie’s three State Supreme Court nominees. Sen. President Steve Sweeney and Senate Judiciary Committee chairman Nick Scutari have set a confirmation hearing date of Oct. 17 for Faustino Fernandez-Vina. The hearing will come one day after N.J’s special election for the U.S. Senate.
The Senate Judiciary Committee rejected Governor Chris Christie's last two choices to fill spots on the State Supreme Court. Prosecutor Phil Kwon and Chatham Mayor Bruce Harris both fell shy of the votes needed to force a vote in the full Upper House. Christie says he’ll soon name his next two nominees.
Today, the State Senate and the General Assembly will vote on a measure to place a question on this November's ballot asking New Jersey voters if they'd like to amend the constitution to force judges to contribute more for the pensions and health benefits.
