Children playing, cyclists riding the trails and dog walkers diligently keeping up with their pooches, all these things would seem inconceivable only a few months ago when Sandy engulfed Sandy Hook's Gateway National Recreation Center, yet the park's opening day was filled with all of those sights.
Good news for lovers of the Jersey Shore. Not the now-defunct MTV reality series, the actual beach in the Garden State. Commissioners in Wildwood were seeking referendum to impose beach for 2013, but they’ve changed their minds. They’ve pulled the plug on the referendum and will instead enter into discussions on the implementation of shared services with the municipalities of Wildwood Crest and North Wildwood as an alternative solution to beach fees.
You still have a little more time to vote for your favorite New Jersey Beaches. The deadline for the Top Ten Beach survey hosted by the New Jersey Sea Grant Consortium (NJSGC) and the Richard Stockton College Coastal Research Center is up on Monday, April 30th at noon.
