Late last month as most people expected, Governor Chris Christie refused to sign a bill which would have increased the state's minimum wage from $7.25 an hour to $8.50 and would've tied future increases to the rate of inflation every year. Instead, Christie conditionally vetoed the bill and offered what he calls a responsible compromise. Tomorrow, Democrats move ahead full-steam with their plan to let voters decide the issue.

An increase like this would be helpful for New Jerseyans who are not very skilled as well as teenagers and college students looking for a way to pay their bills for the time being.
