The Christie administration is withdrawing its appeal of a ruling allowing gay marriage in New Jersey.

Gay marriage is now legal in the Garden State, after the New Jersey Supreme Court refused at the end of last week to delay a lower court ruling giving the go-ahead for same sex couples to legally tie the knot.

Gay couples in a handful of New Jersey communities exchanged marriage vows in the first minutes of Monday morning, becoming the first to take advantage of a court ruling that forced the state to become the 14th in the nation to recognize same-sex nuptials.
