Wednesday was another morning of delays on NJ Transit's Northeast Corridor as Gov. Chrisie and Sen. Booker invited Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao to see the condition of the Northeast Corridor first hand.
NJ Transit trains will operate on a full, normal schedule Friday morning after Amtrak announced repairs at New York Penn Station would be completed by 4 a.m.
Gov. Christie said that three recent derailments at New York Penn Station "continue to frustrate the travel of tens of thousands of NJ Transit customers."
Repairs to the track and equipment at one of the most complex areas of the Northeast Corridor are expected to be done by Friday while NJ Transit's executive director said Monday's derailment was not the fault of his line's equipment.
The budget would end federal funding to the Federal Transit Administration's Capital Investment Program called New Starts. Only projects that have already been fully funded would continue to be funding.
