Stafford Bobcat Escapes Again from Home
STAFFORD TOWNSHIP (AP) -- An Ocean County woman faces another court date after her pet bobcat escaped for the second time since March.
Rocky was gone for about an hour after breaking out of his enclosure at Ginny Fine's Stafford Township home on Saturday.
Police Capt. Tom Dellane tells the Asbury Park Press the 38-pound feline was found a few homes away. Dellane says animal control officers issued a summons charging Fine with letting Rocky run loose. Fine is due in court next Friday.
Fine in May regained custody of the animal, which she claims is a hybrid of a bobcat and Maine coon cat, after a court-ordered DNA test proved inconclusive.
She would have needed a special permit if Rocky was determined to be a purebred bobcat.
