Somerset County man charged with raping child

FRANKLIN (SOMERSET) — A 45-year-old township man has been charged with raping a child who was less than 13 years old.

Felipe DaSilva was charged Wednesday with second-degree sexual assault and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

The Somerset County prosecutor said DaSilva knew the victim, but authorities did not disclose their relationship.

The alleged sexual assault was reported to have happened on June 24. It was reported to township police on Aug. 11.

DaSilva was being held at Somerset County Jail awaiting trial with bail set at $100,000 cash only.
