Authorities said Thursday the remains have been identified as 28 year old David Civile of Tinton Falls.

New Jersey State Police Sgt. Brian Polite says the remains were found November 28 by a contractor making repairs to a dock by a home along the river.

The Monmouth County Medical Examiners Office identified the remains Wednesday.

Polite says detectives investigating the remains were advised that an unsuccessful multi-agency search for a missing kayaker identified as Civile had been conducted in the area on November 17, 2010.

The cause and manner of Civile's death are still under investigation.
