Police say an Irvington man was shot and killed around midnight near the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark’s downtown. The area was the site of an outdoor concert earlier in the evening featuring the group Naughty By Nature.

Thirty-two-year-old Hanif Zeigler was pronounced dead at University Hospital.

In a separate incident, police say they shot and wound a man in a stolen vehicle on Routes 1 & 9 at approximately 7 a.m. Friday.

Police say three suspects fled a stolen Land Rover and jumped into a second stolen vehicle and tried to run down two officers. One suspect suffered a bullet wound to the head. The other suspects escaped.
