Police: ‘Domestic situation’ sparked South Jersey workplace shooting
MOORESTOWN (AP) — Authorities say a shooting at a South Jersey security company that left one man dead and another injured was sparked by an "ongoing domestic situation."
Moorestown police Lt. Lee Lieber says 42-year-old Edgar Figueroa killed himself after shooting 31-year-old Melvin Nieves. Both are from Philadelphia.
Nieves was shot four times and was listed in critical condition at a hospital.
Lieber says the shooting began after the two men arrived for work at Shields Business Solutions around 7 a.m. He says Figueroa shot himself in the rear parking lot and that he was the only one with a weapon.
The office is located in a business park and is less than a mile away from the Moorestown police department building.
Shields Business Solutions provides armored car, ATM and security services, according to its website.
