I didn’t believe what I was hearing after watching the Jets debacle last night, but I’m not surprised by it.

According to this report, the mayor of Seaside Heights,
Bill Akers, told WNBC TV that’s he’s considering leaving the ruins of the Seaside Coaster submerged as a tourist attraction, supposedly as a testament to the resilience of the town against the fury of Sandy…or some such nonsense to that effect.

The report states
that the picture of the ride, which looks more like a water slide these days, has become an iconic image of the damage Sandy wreaked up and down the coast just over three weeks ago.

But Mayor Akers, in an exclusive interview with NBC 4 New York, said he is working with the Coast Guard to see if it is stable enough to leave it alone.

If it is, Akers said it would make "a great tourist attraction."

When I see the hulk of a mess the coaster is, I’m not reminded of the USS Arizona; nor of whatever remained of the former World Trade Center.

All I see is rust and an eyesore. Not to mention a potential lawsuit.
