A 20-year-old Sayreville man is charged with killing his father and trying to hide the gun used in the shooting.

Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey said Vishal Shah shot his father, Pradipkum Shah, once in their home on Lakeview Drive in the Parlin section of Sayreville on Friday morning. Pradipkum was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick where he died on Saturday, Carey said.

Vishal was arrested on Sunday evening and charged with murder, hindering his apprehension and unlawful possession of a weapon, according to Carey. He is being held pending $1 million in bail at the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center Carey said the .25 caliber handgun has been recovered.
