The university announced the honors Thursday, but they are to be given out at commencement exercises on May 19.

One honorary degree is to go to Lonnie Bunch III, the founding director of the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of African American History and Culture.

Another is to be awarded to Jane Lubchenco, whose term as administrator of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration was to end Thursday.

The third is for Ralph Izzo, the chairman and CEO of Public Service Enterprise Group, New Jersey's largest utility. He is also the outgoing chairman of the university's board of governors.
