Russell King Brain Dead in Chardon Shooting
CHARDON, Ohio - A student who was wounded in yesterday's school shooting near Cleveland has been declared brain dead -- one day after another student was killed and three others injured in the gunfire.
Russell King was shot when a teen began shooting at Chardon High School yesterday morning.
King was studying alternative energy at a nearby vocational school. Like the others who were shot, he was waiting for a bus for his daily 15-minute ride to the school.
One of the students injured in the shooting, Demetrius Hewlin, is in critical condition today at a Cleveland hospital.
Authorities aren't commenting on a motive. A student who saw the attack says it appeared that the gunman targeted a group of students sitting together.
The FBI says the suspect was arrested near his car a half-mile from the school.
The suspect has been identified by a family lawyer as T.J. Lane. The lawyer says the family is mourning "this terrible loss for their community."
