Route 1 shut down in South Brunswick Friday morning

Route 1 North was entirely shut down at Dean's lane in South Brunswick Friday morning for a serious crash, police said.

In a series of community alerts and tweets, police first said at around 6:30 a.m. the roadway would be shut down for several hours. At 8 a.m., they said the northbound roadway remained entirely closed.

Police said the closure was expected to last several hours.
