The roof of a former shopping center that's being torn down in Ocean County collapsed on Thursday afternoon, killing a construction worker.

Berkeley Township Police say workers dug through the debris of the former Beachwood Shopping Center on Route 9 after the collapse around 2:15 p.m.and located the victim. He was later pronounced dead by paramedics. The victim was identified by the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office as Raymond Crosby, 52, of Keansburg.

The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the Ocean County Sheriff's Office are all investigating the incident.

The shopping center  had fallen into disrepair in the past several years and demolition had begun in June.
