We know how great a speaker he can be off the cuff.

We know how good he works the halls under the gold dome when the TV lights are shining on him.

And we now know his penchant for the YouTube moment.

But now, according to reports, he’ll be ready for his closeup…and no, I’m not surprised!

According to this, there speculation that Governor Christie will give the keynote address at the Republican National Convention in Tampa.

The New York Post reports those who plan to attend the convention have been told to make sure they make it on Tuesday, Aug 28, because “Gov. Chris Christie is going to be giving the keynote speech that night.”

There has been talk for months that Christie, whose tough talk has made him a star in national Republican circles, would be tapped for some kind of major role at the convention.

But in recent weeks, reports have shot down speculation that Romney, the presumptive Republican presidential candidate, would turn to Christie as his running mate.

The last New Jerseyan to deliver the keynote speech at a Republican convention was former Gov. Tom Kean, in 1988.

Last month Kean told The Star-Ledger that Christie would "be a wonderful choice, the best" to give the address.
"He's one of the best speakers ever ," he said.

Allow for a moment of levity if you will:
Will he have an ice cream cone in hand?

Ok, got that out.

But really, as Keynote addresses go, despite how much you may disagree with his style or policies, you have to admit that it will be ‘must see TV’!

Or will it?
