The move announced Wednesday by Public Service Electric and Gas will cut the average bill for those customers by about 31 percent.

The bill credits for February and March are an extension of the credits the utility provided for gas usage in November, December and January.

PSE&G officials say the credits are mostly due to the continued availability of low-cost shale gas.
