Police say several cars burned early Saturday in suspected arson fires in the North Hollywood area.

Officer Robert Collier says authorities are investigating if the fires affecting seven or eight cars are connected to nearly two dozen arson fires in Hollywood about 24 hours ago.

Those fires on Friday spread to several structures. But Collier says that although some of Saturday's blazes are in carports and garages, he hasn't had any reports of damage to buildings.

Reports of the car fires began coming shortly after 1 a.m. PST Police have set up a command post in the area and have called a tactical alert, allowing them to call in more officers.

No arrests have been made and no injuries reported.
