WPVI TV reports the plane was US Airways flight #777 from Shannon, Ireland, a Boeing 757 headed for Philadelphia with 171 passengers and 8 crew members on board. Once the plane landed it was taken to a remote area of the airport.

People were seen getting off the plane and a bus was brought out to take passengers away. A number of fire and police vehicles were also near the plane.

Police and airport officials say they don't have any specifics about the apparent threat or details about from where it may have originated.

U.S. customs officials have screening facilities at Shannon Airport and the passengers aboard the plane would have gone through them before boarding

All luggage will be searched in Philadelphia and bomb sniffing dogs will be used by investigators to check the plane.
