FORT LEE — A woman who police say grabbed the steering wheel of the car she was driving in is facing charges, after the vehicle crashed into another car on the George Washington Bridge.

According to the Parsippany Patch, Johengny Tavares, 28, of the Lake Hiawatha section of Parsippany-Troy Hills, has been charged with assault by auto after allegedly causing the wreck on the upper level of the bridge Sunday night.

Police told Patch that the driver of the car was an acquaintance of Tavares, and that after grabbing the wheel she caused it to turn into a Toyota sedan. Tavares and the driver were both taken to the hospital, as was the driver of the other vehicle according to Patch.

According to Patch, Port Authority police reported that the driver received a temporary restraining order against Tavares.
