Part of the roof at the Center Circle - a facility located in the same complex as the city's Municipal Building, fire department and Recreation Center - collapsed Saturday, the report states. The portion that caved in covered the soccer field.

According to NJ Advance Media, the sports complex, a green and white "tent-style" facility located at 1255 Main Street, was actually closed when the incident occurred Sgt. Thomas McComb told the website.

The Center Circle website states that the complex is "a 55,000 square foot regional. four-season indoor recreational sports complex that houses two full-sized indoor arenas to accommodate year round play of soccer, roller hockey, flag football, lacrosse, "extreme"softball and field-hockey, as well as other sports and  activities.

Earlier Saturday, Union County also experienced another major commercial roof collapse at Trader Joe's in Westfield.
