EDISON — An overturned dump truck on the New Jersey Turnpike caused big delays on Monday.

State Police spokesman Lawrence Peale said the truck overturned around 9:30 a.m. onto a guard rail dividing the car lanes and the truck lanes south of Exit #10 for Route 287 and 440 in Edison.

All the lanes were reopened just before noon.

The truck blocked the left lane of the truck lanes and the right lane of the inner roadway  causing multi mile delays on both sides.

Peale said the truck was the only vehicle involved in the crash and sent the driver to Robert Wood Johnson University for treatment of lacerations.

Peale did not know what caused the truck to overturn and said the investigation is ongoing.
