One person fatally struck by train in Hamilton Township
One person has died after being struck by an Amtrak train in Hamilton Township, ABC news has reported.
According to ABC, the accident took place Sunday at 5:45 p.m. at the Hamilton Train Station, which is located just off Sloan Avenue.
"The person was struck by Amtrak train #123, which was headed from Washington D.C. to Boston," ABC reported, adding that the victim was pronounced dead on the scene.
The passenger train was carrying 541 passengers, but no injuries were reported.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident to determine why the victim was on the railroad tracks.
As a result of the accident, delays of up to 60 minutes were being reported by NJ Transit between Trenton and New York City on the Northeast Corridor line.
