Officials warn of moderate rip current risk at Jersey Shore
TRENTON, N.J. (AP) -- Swimmers along the New Jersey coast should be cautious because there is a moderate risk for rip currents.
That's the warning issued Sunday by the National Weather Service.
Officials say beachgoers need to be cautious in the water and should only swim in areas where lifeguards are present. They also should speak with them about any potential hazards in the water.
In some areas, swimmers are being told they should not wade too deeply into the surf due to the currents.
