N.J. dad accused of beating baby to death ‘grief-stricken,’ attorney says
FORT LEE (AP) — A North Jersey man has pleaded not guilty in the beating death of his 5-month-old son.
NJ.com reports that 38-year-old Yoseop Choi entered his pleas Monday during a court hearing. He's charged with aggravated manslaughter, aggravated assault and child endangerment.
Prosecutors say the Fort Lee man shook and punched his son over a two-month period. Police arrested him last month when the baby went into cardiac arrest and was taken to a hospital.
Authorities say the infant died Thursday after he was taken off life support. He had a severe head injury and a healing rib fracture.
Choi's lawyer, Anthony Iacullo, says his client is "grief-stricken" over his son's death.
Choi remains jailed on $1 million bail.
