A Democratic convention official says the finale at the Democratic National Convention will miss the traditional massive balloon drop after President Barack Obama delivers his nomination acceptance speech.

The Obama campaign and convention officials announced Wednesday that the possibility of thunderstorms Thursday means they're shifting Obama's speech. It's being moved from the 74,000-seat Bank of America Stadium back to the Time Warner Cable Arena where the rest of the convention is being held.

It's too late to fill the ceiling with balloons. So organizers are scrambling to come up with another festive way to punctuate the end of the convention.
