NJ Transit’s Hoboken Terminal Fully Reopens

New Jersey Transit's Hoboken Terminal is back in business weeks after sustaining damage during Superstorm Sandy.

NJ Transit executive director James Weinstein was on hand in the main waiting room to meet commuters Monday afternoon. The room had just reopened for the first time since mid-December, when mold was discovered in the cleanup after Sandy.

NJ Transit has drawn criticism for its performance before and after the storm. In particular, critics have focused on the decision to leave train cars and locomotives in maintenance yards that suffered heavy flooding.

Trains into Hoboken are still operating on backup electrical power.

The agency says Sandy will end up costing it approximately $400 million.
