NJ Transit Police To Conduct Emergency Drill
Rail passengers should not be alarmed if they see more police and emergency personnel in Newark.
NJ Transit Police will conduct a training exercise at the Newark Light Rail NJPAC/Center Street Station on Saturday.
The drill, which will test the response to a light rail emergency, will start at 8 a.m. and last about four hours.
Newark Light Rail service will operate on a single track between Newark Penn and Newark Broad Street stations during the drill.
The excercise comes after the Port Authority bus terminal in Manhattan was closed for an hour on Thursday night due to a suspicious package that turned out to be a gym bag.
