Efforts continue to crack down on drug-dealing in one of New Jersey’s most dangerous cities.

Police in Camden have arrested as 17-year -old who was carrying 257 bags of drugs, and almost $3,000 in cash.

Officers observed the suspect engaging in a drug transaction, and after he was caught and placed under arrest, they discovered he had 201 heat-sealed bags of cocaine, 56 bags of heroin and $2,484 in cash in his pockets.

“This arrest is another example of how proactive policing allows us to address community concerns such as open-air drug dealing,” said Chief J. Scott Thomson.

The teen is being held at the County juvenile detention facility in Lakeland.

As part of an effort to reduce crime, the city of Camden recently partnered with a County-wide police force.
