The Unclaimed Property Administration says 70,762 people submitted claims during the 2014 fiscal year. That's up from nearly 62,000 in fiscal year 2013 when $107.5 million was paid out.

This year's claims included $1.3 million to a Hudson County family for an estate, $424,000 to an Ocean County man for bank checks and $377,000 received by a Bergen County woman mostly for health care policy benefits and bank accounts.

State Treasurer Andrew Sidamon-Eristoff says by securing the funds, residents can reclaim what is rightfully theirs.
