An attorney says the man who gouged his own eyes out in prison after being charged with murder is still unfit for trial.

's attorney cited a recent evaluation performed by state doctors in Trenton. Razumov is charged with killing 73-year-old Virginia "Suzy" Sommer while robbing her home in 2012.

Attorney Robert Baer says Razumov gouged out his eyes in 2014 at Trenton State Prison.

Judge Thomas J. Critchley ruled Razumov was unfit for trial in 2015 and mandated he undergo regular evaluations.

An assistant prosecutor told Judge William J. McGovern Wednesday in state court in Newton that the state will have its own expert psychologist evaluate Razumov within the next six months. McGovern says the case needs to move toward a resolution.

Razumov returns to court Nov. 1.
