MVC spokeswoman Mairin Bellack said Tuesday the service outage is being reviewed by the state Office of Information Technology and that state officials are working to identify what caused the failure.

The system went down shortly before 1 p.m. and was restored at 3:25 p.m.

A statement from the MVC says other state departments were affected.

But spokesmen for Gov. Chris Christie and the Treasury said to their knowledge other state agencies were not affected.

Treasury oversees the state's Office of Information Technology.
